Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting in Sibu: No Injuries Reported

SIBU: A shooting incident took place early Thursday morning (Dec 26) in Jalan Lada, Sibu, sparking a police investigation. According to Sibu police chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, preliminary findings indicate that the shooter fired four rounds from a firearm, targeting both a house and a car belonging to the victim.

Miraculously, no one was injured during the incident. ACP Zulkipli stated that the suspects are believed to have been multiple individuals who were travelling in a black Toyota Vios. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the police are actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

The police received a report about the shooting at 1:54 a.m. from a member of the public who heard what sounded like a loud explosion near a residential area. Authorities quickly arrived at the scene and began their investigation.

As of now, the case is being investigated under Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960, which relates to the unlawful discharge of a firearm, and Section 427 of the Penal Code, which pertains to mischief by damaging property. ACP Zulkipli emphasized that efforts are being made to locate the suspects involved in the shooting.

The police are urging anyone who has information about the incident to come forward. Individuals can contact the nearest police station or reach out to the investigating officer, Inspector Muhammad Abu Bakar Roshidi, at 012-8774241, to provide any helpful details.

The Sibu police are determined to resolve this case swiftly, ensuring the safety of the community and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
