MELAKA – Police have dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate following a successful raid on a house near Taman Krubong Perdana, where they seized syabu worth an estimated RM320,000.
The operation, which took place last Wednesday night at around 11.30pm, led to the arrest of four local men aged between 19 and 50. The Melaka Tengah District Police Chief, ACP Christopher Patit, confirmed that the raid resulted in the confiscation of a staggering 10,000 grams of syabu.

“This syndicate is believed to have been active since the beginning of the year. The drugs seized are suspected to be intended for markets in neighbouring countries and have the potential to affect 33,333 addicts,” said ACP Christopher in a statement. The drugs are a major threat to the community, highlighting the ongoing issues with drug trafficking in the region.
In addition to the drugs, the police also confiscated assets worth RM59,000, including one car and three motorcycles, all belonging to the arrested individuals. ACP Christopher further explained that initial screening tests on the suspects revealed no evidence of drug abuse among them.
However, upon reviewing their criminal records, authorities discovered that one of the suspects, a 50-year-old man, had a history with two previous cases under the Dangerous Drugs Act (Section 39B) and the Special Preventive Measures Act (Section 6(1)).
All four suspects are currently under remand for seven days, from May 2 to May 8, and the investigation continues under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The successful raid highlights the ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to combat drug trafficking in the country and the importance of continuing to target syndicates operating both locally and internationally. — Bernama
