PPS Brings Festive Cheer to Child Patients at Sarawak General Hospital

PPS Brings Festive Cheer to Child Patients at Sarawak General Hospital

KUCHING — In a heartwarming gesture this Christmas, the Sarawak Consumer Association (PPS) handed over 127 packs of necessities to child patients in six children’s wards at Sarawak General Hospital. The initiative aims to spread joy, hope, and festive cheer to young patients who are away from home and their families.

According to PPS President Dr. Wynson Ong, the donation program is an annual tradition designed to ensure every child feels loved and remembered during the festive season. “PPS believes that every child deserves to feel love and joy, especially during meaningful celebrations. This donation program will continue as a yearly tradition so that no child misses out on the happiness of the festive season,” he said.

The welfare program was organized in collaboration with the International Education Legacy Foundation, emphasizing the importance of compassion and humanity within the community. PPS also extended their gratitude to the program’s sponsors, including Taka Patisserie for the cakes, Mr. Sia, He Tai Development Sdn. Bhd., Borneo Planner Management Sdn. Bhd., and Lian Cheng Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Sdn. Bhd. for their donation of apples. Their support played a significant role in brightening the celebrations for the children.

Members and volunteers of PPS, including Mr. Bertrand, Mr. Jeff, Mr. Donny, Mr. Jerry, Mr. Sung, Mr. Leong, Mr. Jian, Mrs. Connie Ong, Mrs. Nur Amalina, Ms. Siti Zairina, Ms. Siti Nur Zafirah, and Ms. Syazmeen, were also present to ensure the smooth running of the program.

On the occasion, Dr. Wynson Ong also expressed his deep appreciation to healthcare workers, whom he referred to as “white angels,” for their dedication and sacrifice in caring for patients even while others celebrate with their families. “Thank you for your sincerity, commitment, and invaluable services,” he added.

Under Dr. Ong’s leadership, PPS continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to welfare initiatives and community programs, promoting empathy, concern, and unity among the people of Sarawak.
