Sarawak Premier Attends Loyal Service Medal Ceremony in Samarahan

KUCHING – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, attended the Samarahan Division Loyal Service Medal Presentation Ceremony at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly on 11 February 2026.

The Loyal Service Medal is awarded to permanent civil servants who have completed 20 years of accumulated service with consistent dedication and satisfactory performance, endorsed by their respective Heads of Department. The award serves as a formal recognition of contributions made by civil servants in strengthening the public sector.

This event marked the first medal presentation ceremony of 2026, with a total of 408 recipients honoured. The awardees represented 18 departments and agencies, including 14 from the Sarawak State Government and four from the Federal Government.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of acknowledging long-serving civil servants who have played a crucial role in maintaining efficiency and professionalism within government institutions. Such recognition not only honours individual achievements but also reinforces the values of loyalty and commitment across the civil service.

Also present at the ceremony were Datuk Amar Awang Asfia Awang Nassar, Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, and Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, Secretary to the Sarawak Government. Their attendance underscored the significance of the event in celebrating the contributions of civil servants to the state’s governance and administration.

The Loyal Service Medal remains one of the most respected honours within the Sarawak civil service, symbolising appreciation for decades of dedication. By recognising these individuals, the state government continues to encourage excellence and inspire future generations of public servants to uphold the same standards of integrity and professionalism.
