SIBURAN — The 10th edition of the Project of Dreams Realised (PRO-DR) Roadshow is set to take place at the Siburan Community Hall on 20 August 2025, with a strong focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and career development opportunities for rural youth.
Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport (Air & Road), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, described the roadshow as a key initiative by the Sarawak Government aimed at equipping rural students with knowledge and exposure to higher education and potential career paths.
“Education is not just about securing employment, but about shaping the future of our society and nation. Through PRO-DR, we are nurturing future leaders in technology and entrepreneurship, particularly in alignment with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the digital economy,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday.
Dr Jerip, who is also the Mambong State Assemblyman, encouraged parents and communities in Serian Division and Padawan District to support and motivate their children to attend the event. He noted that the program provides an excellent platform for direct engagement with education and industry representatives.
“This is the perfect opportunity for students to receive valuable information and even apply for jobs. We urge attendees to bring their resumes and academic certificates, as open interviews will be conducted. Participants should dress appropriately,” he advised.
The carnival will feature a variety of educational and interactive activities, including an Education and Career Fair, motivational talks, and sharing sessions with alumni and institutions. Highlighted STEM and TVET experiences include a Mini STEM Playground, science experiments, fruit carving demonstrations, digital tech showcases, and hands-on workshops.
A total of 24 booths from higher learning institutions, government agencies, and private firms will provide training information and conduct open interviews on-site.
Students from six invited schools—SMK Siburan, SMK Padawan, SMK Tun Abdul Razak, SMK Sungai Tapang, SMK Muara Tuang, SMK Kota Samarahan, and SMK Penrissen No.1—will participate as the main group, with 320 students expected to attend.
The event aims to cultivate awareness, ambition, and early career readiness among youth in the region, contributing to Sarawak’s long-term vision for educational and economic growth.
