KUCHING, 13 April 2026 – A course focusing on professional image and personal skills was successfully conducted today at the Auditorium, Level 17, Sultan Iskandar Building.
The programme was organised under the Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office, Prime Minister’s Department, with the aim of enhancing workplace readiness and employee confidence.
The session was led by Ms Syafa Alias, Assistant Psychology Officer from the Psychology and Counselling Section, Student Services Centre, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.
She is recognised as a Certified Professional in Professional Development (CPIC), bringing both academic expertise and practical experience to the training.
The course centred on three key areas: professional image, effective communication, and personal skills aligned with workplace ethics.
Participants were guided through practical techniques designed to strengthen self-confidence and improve professional presentation in organisational settings.
Interactive modules allowed attendees to practise communication strategies and explore how personal behaviour influences workplace relationships.
According to organisers, the training was structured to ensure participants could immediately apply the skills learned to their daily roles.
Professional image and communication have become increasingly important in modern workplaces, where employees are expected to balance technical expertise with interpersonal effectiveness.
Courses such as this are seen as vital in preparing staff to meet organisational standards while also fostering a culture of professionalism.
Participants reported that the session provided valuable insights into how self-presentation can affect career development.
By focusing on confidence-building and ethical conduct, the programme aimed to equip employees with tools to navigate challenges and contribute positively to their organisations.
The Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office expressed hope that the initiative would help raise the overall quality of services delivered by government departments and agencies.
“Hopefully, the organisation of this course can help improve the self-confidence and skills of employees, thereby contributing to improving the overall quality of organisational services,” the organisers stated.
With growing emphasis on professional development across Malaysia, similar courses are expected to continue playing a role in strengthening workforce capabilities.
The Kuching session reflects ongoing efforts to ensure employees are well-prepared to meet the demands of evolving workplace environments.
