KUCHING – The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak recently organised a two-day programme titled Professional Image, Grooming & Etiquette for Civil Service Excellence, attended by 53 participants.
The initiative was designed to strengthen professional image, confidence, and service excellence among civil servants representing the ministry both locally and internationally.
The programme was structured into two sessions, each focusing on different aspects of professional development.
Day One concentrated on personal presentation and workplace readiness. Modules included:
- Professional hygiene standards
- Basic grooming for professionals
- Hair management in the workplace
- Basic professional makeup techniques
Participants actively engaged in discussions and practical exercises, with organisers expressing appreciation for their commitment and enthusiasm during the first day.
Day Two shifted focus towards professional interaction and etiquette. Modules covered:
- Colour analysis for professional dressing
- Social and professional etiquette
- Assessment and roleplay exercises
These sessions provided participants with practical exposure to workplace scenarios, helping them to refine their communication skills and professional conduct.
The ministry highlighted that the programme was part of its broader effort to enhance civil service excellence.
By equipping officers with the knowledge of grooming, etiquette, and professional presentation, the ministry aims to ensure that Sarawak’s civil servants project confidence and competence in both domestic and international settings.
Officials noted that professional image and etiquette are increasingly important in today’s interconnected environment, where civil servants often represent Sarawak in diverse forums. The training is expected to improve not only individual confidence but also the overall reputation of the ministry.
The initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to continuous professional development, ensuring that its personnel are well-prepared to meet the demands of modern governance and public service.
