The incident occurred around 2.35 pm and prompted a swift response from the Siburan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), located 18km away. According to Operations Commander PBK II Yaakub Adanan, a team of five firefighters, along with a CFRT vehicle, were dispatched to the scene immediately.

The fire team arrived at 2.54 pm and ended the rescue operation by 4.13 pm.

One of the victims, Jo Anderon, aged 32, was found injured but not trapped in the front passenger seat of the car. Rescuers used a spinal board to safely move him and handed him over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) ambulance team for further medical care.

The driver, Shanedy, 46, managed to exit the vehicle on his own before the rescue team arrived.

“The Ministry of Health team was present at the location and assisted in the operation,” Yaakub said in an official statement issued by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, though slippery road conditions and possible driver error have not been ruled out.

Local residents are reminded to drive cautiously, especially during unpredictable weather conditions, and to always maintain vehicle safety.
