Premier Abang Johari Pays Final Respect to Late Puan Sri Lim Su Kheng

Premier Abang Johari Pays Final Respect to Late Puan Sri Lim Su Kheng

KUCHING — The passing of Puan Sri Datin Amar Lim Su Kheng has been described as a tremendous loss, not only to her family but also to the wider Sarawak community and the Welfare Association of Sarawak Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers (SABATI).

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg expressed deep sadness over her passing, noting her generous spirit and long-standing contributions to community welfare.

He shared these remarks after visiting the residence of Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian at Kenyalang Park on Tuesday to convey condolences on behalf of the state cabinet. The Premier arrived at around 6pm and was received by Dr. Sim, his wife Datin Amar Enn Ong Siok Ean, and close family members.

The Premier said the late Puan Sri Lim had played an important role since the early days of Dr. Sim’s appointment as Deputy Premier. She was known for her steadfast support for her family and her active involvement in charitable and community-focused initiatives.

He described her as an exceptionally kind individual whose presence was always felt in SABATI’s welfare programmes.
According to him, she had contributed greatly to community-building efforts, often helping to push forward activities that supported women, families, and vulnerable groups.

“The late Puan Sri was very kind to the community and to all of us at SABATI. Her efforts in various welfare programmes were truly meaningful. Her loss is deeply felt,” he said.

Puan Sri Lim passed away on Monday at the age of 83.

Premier Abang Johari also reflected on her active involvement in SABATI during her years with the association. He said her commitment strengthened many of SABATI’s initiatives aimed at helping communities in need, leaving a legacy that will be remembered.

“All of us are truly saddened. We pray that Datuk Amar Dr. Sim and his family will find strength and peace during this difficult period,” he added.

The Premier also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the family for all the contributions made by the late Puan Sri Lim, noting that her dedication had long benefited the people of Sarawak.

Her passing marks the end of a life dedicated to service, compassion, and community support — values deeply respected by those who knew her.
