SIBU, 16 May 2025 – A quick tip from the public helped police arrest a man suspected of being involved in a housebreaking case at Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku yesterday.

“We received crucial information from the public. Our team managed to locate and arrest the suspect during a patrol. Several items believed to be stolen were also seized during the operation,” he said in a statement today.

The suspect, along with the recovered items, was taken to the Sungai Merah Police Station for further investigation. The case is currently being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty for housebreaking.

ACP Zulkipli praised the public’s alertness and cooperation in helping the police solve the case quickly.

“This arrest shows how important public cooperation is in our efforts to fight crime. We thank the people for their support,” he added.

Police are urging the community to continue working closely with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.

This case highlights the success of community policing and how public awareness can make a difference in maintaining safety in residential areas.
