Pujut Road RTP Project Enhances Safety and Comfort for Residents

MIRI – The Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project at Jalan Pujut Adong has delivered significant improvements to local infrastructure, enhancing both comfort and safety for residents in the area.

The initiative involved resurfacing three minor roads that connect the village to the main road. This upgrade has resolved long-standing issues of slippery surfaces and flooding during the rainy season, providing residents with safer and more reliable access for daily travel.

Pujut Assemblyman and Miri City Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang explained that the project was initiated based on requests from the community and directly benefits local residents.

“Although the project is complete, it is suitable to ensure that residents have a more comfortable and safer road during their daily commute,” he said during a site visit on Monday.

In addition to resurfacing works, a speed bump (‘jumbu’) was installed at the request of residents to control vehicle speed and reduce the risk of accidents.

Yii emphasised that safety remains a priority, with continuous monitoring planned to ensure the surrounding areas remain secure.

The RTP project reflects the government’s broader commitment to improving rural and urban infrastructure, ensuring that communities enjoy better living conditions and safer environments.

For residents of Jalan Pujut Adong, the upgrades have already made a noticeable difference, easing travel and reducing hazards during adverse weather.

Local leaders have highlighted that such projects not only improve physical infrastructure but also contribute to community well-being by addressing everyday challenges faced by residents.

The initiative underscores the importance of responsive governance, where development projects are tailored to meet the needs of the people.

With the completion of the Jalan Pujut Adong RTP project, residents can look forward to safer commutes and improved quality of life, reinforcing the role of infrastructure development in supporting community welfare across Sarawak.
