Pulau Bruit Festival 2025 Set to Boost Coastal Community Economy

Pulau Bruit Festival 2025 Set to Boost Coastal Community Economy

DARO – The Pulau Bruit Festival 2025 is being framed as a key platform to bolster the economy of coastal communities in Sarawak, while also promoting the island as a viable tourism destination.

During the launching ceremony at Kampung Tekajong Community Hall on Friday, Deputy Minister Datuk Abdullah Saidol underscored the festival’s uniqueness in spotlighting local fresh seafood and agricultural produce. He said the event serves to “introduce local specialties to foreign communities.”

More than 300 residents from Pulau Bruit and nearby Daro took part in the launch, reflecting the event’s community focus. The festival is viewed not only as a tourism draw, but as a means to strengthen the coastal economy.

Festivities slated for the festival include folk sports, cultural performances, exhibitions and briefings by government agencies, stage acts by guest artists, and a Mini Agrofest showcasing fresh farm and marine products. Lucky draws will also be held to engage visitors.

Five educational bodies, namely CENTEXs, Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), Sarawak Skills, Kolej Laila Taib and the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), will stage educational exhibitions as part of the programme.

Datuk Abdullah remarked that this annual festival is expected to remain highly anticipated, gradually positioning Pulau Bruit among the state’s significant tourism events.
