Rainy Days Ahead: Sarawak to Experience Continuous Rain from Jan 15-18

KUCHING, Jan 13: Sarawak is set to experience continuous rainfall from January 15 to 18 as the monsoon season retreats, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia).

In a statement issued today at 1pm, METMalaysia highlighted that this weather phenomenon will also affect parts of Peninsular Malaysia, including its eastern and southern zones, as well as Sabah.

The department emphasized that it is continuously monitoring weather patterns and will issue warnings for continuous rain when their forecast models show high confidence.

“METMalaysia constantly monitors weather conditions from time to time and will issue continuous rain warnings as soon as the output of weather forecast models reaches a high level of confidence,” said the department in the notice.

Citizens are urged to stay updated with the latest weather information by visiting METMalaysia’s official website, following their social media pages, or downloading the myCuaca application. This app provides real-time updates, ensuring the public can prepare for adverse weather conditions in a timely manner.

With heavy rain anticipated, residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are encouraged to take precautionary measures, such as securing personal belongings, preparing emergency supplies, and staying alert for any changes in the weather.

As the state gears up for the rainy spell, the authorities also remind road users to exercise extra caution, especially during peak rainfall hours, to avoid accidents caused by slippery roads and poor visibility.

Stay safe and informed by keeping tabs on official updates to navigate this period of continuous rain smoothly.
