Ramadan Charity Tour in Muara Tuang Strengthens Community Bonds

SERIAN – The Muara Tuang Zone Ramadan Charity Tour brought residents together in Kampung Reban through a porridge distribution programme at the compound of Darul Ehsan Mosque, reinforcing the values of charity and unity during the holy month.

The initiative, held on Friday, was designed to share sustenance while strengthening ties between leaders and the local community. The highlight of the event was the distribution of lambuk porridge, a traditional dish often prepared and shared during Ramadan.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Kota Samarahan Member of Parliament, Datuk Rubiah Wang, attended the programme and joined residents in the charitable activity. She emphasised that such initiatives not only revive the practice of giving during Ramadan but also serve as a platform to foster brotherhood among the community.

Quoting the Prophet Muhammad SAW, she reminded attendees of the spiritual rewards associated with feeding those who are fasting: “Whoever feeds people who are fasting to break their fast, then for him is a reward like the person who is fasting without reducing the reward of the person who is fasting in the slightest.”

She added, “Programmes like this are not just about sharing food to break the fast, but also serve as a medium to strengthen relationships and foster a spirit of togetherness in the community. Through charitable activities like this, we can further strengthen relationships between communities as well as enhance the blessings of Ramadan.”

In addition to the porridge distribution, Datuk Rubiah Wang visited a Kampung Reban resident, Tuyah @ Kandot Achang, aged 67, who is currently battling stage four colon cancer and diabetes. Her visit was intended to provide comfort and support, reflecting concern for the well-being of villagers facing health challenges.

The event also saw the participation of Muhd Firdaus Fauzi, Kampung Reban Community Leader, and Rozni Paee, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women’s Leader for the Muara Tuang Branch. Their presence underscored the collaborative spirit of the programme, which brought together leaders and residents in a shared celebration of Ramadan values.

The evening concluded with a communal breaking of fast, followed by Maghrib prayers and a meal shared among attendees. The atmosphere was filled with goodwill, reflecting the programme’s aim of nurturing unity and compassion.

Community members expressed hope that similar initiatives will continue in future, reinforcing the bonds of brotherhood and ensuring that charitable traditions remain a cornerstone of Ramadan in Sarawak.
