Gerald Rentap Jabu Hands Over Completed Rural Projects to Rumah Panjang Engkalat Residents

BETONG – Residents of Rumah Panjang Engkalat, located in Spak, Betong, welcomed two completed development projects under the Sarawak Government’s rural initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure and living standards in the interior.

The official handover was led by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurial Development Sarawak, and ADUN Layar, Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, during a ceremony held at the longhouse on Friday.

The two projects include:

Upgraded Concrete Road Works – Carried out under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) by Betong District Council (MDB) with funding of RM200,000 from the RTP ADUN N.36 Layar allocation.

New Staircase Construction (Purchase Type) – Implemented under the Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR) by Sarawak Development Office (SDO) Zone Sri Aman, involving RM50,000 funded by the Betong MP’s allocation.

“The government remains committed to improving basic facilities for rural communities to uplift their quality of life,” said Dato Gerald in his speech.

Local resident Jiram Entegar expressed gratitude:

“These completed projects directly benefit our community – we thank the government for their ongoing support.”

Following the handover, Dato Gerald engaged with residents in a dialogue session to address local development concerns and future needs.
