Repok Development Projects Enhance Community Facilities & Well-being

SARIKEI – A series of upgrading projects are currently underway in the Repok constituency, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for local residents.

Among the initiatives being implemented are the repair of longhouses, improvements to the drainage system, and the construction of a new ping pong hall designed to benefit both students and the wider community.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, who is also Repok State Assemblyman Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, explained that the projects are intended to provide long-term comfort and practical benefits for residents.

“I hope that with the cooperation of all parties, all these projects can be implemented as well as possible. At the same time, I also urge that monitoring be carried out from time to time to ensure the smooth implementation,” he said on Tuesday.

To ensure the projects meet community needs, officers from the Repok DUN Service Centre have conducted several site visits in collaboration with relevant agencies.

These inspections are aimed at verifying that works are carried out according to specifications and address local concerns.

One of the key reviews focused on the drainage system at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK Tinggi Sarikei), where flash floods have frequently disrupted school activities. The upgrade is expected to reduce flooding risks and improve safety for students and staff.

In addition, a site evaluation was conducted for the proposed ping pong hall at the school. The facility is expected to serve as a hub for sports and recreational activities, offering space not only for school staff and students but also for surrounding communities.

The projects highlight the government’s broader agenda of strengthening community infrastructure in rural and semi-urban areas.

By addressing both housing and public amenities, the initiatives aim to create a more resilient and supportive environment for residents.

Local leaders have emphasised that the success of these projects depends on continuous cooperation between government agencies, service centres and the community.

The developments in Repok are seen as part of a wider effort to ensure that residents enjoy improved facilities, safer environments and opportunities for social engagement.
