This announcement was made during the Opening Ceremony of the Postponement of the Sejijak Regatta 2025, held at the Kampung Sejijak Jetty. The Premier highlighted that the development would not only benefit the villagers but also support tourism activities along the riverbanks.

“Infrastructure is important for growth. These new riverbanks will be a stepping stone to attract tourists and enhance the environment,” said Abang Johari.

To further improve accessibility, a new road linking Kampung Sejijak and Kampung Paroh to Kampung Segedup via the Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Haji Daud Bridge has also been proposed. This will improve travel between these areas, making it more convenient for both locals and visitors.

In addition, the government will proceed with the Kampung Sejijak and Kampung Paroh Expansion Project, covering 30 acres of land, under the Sarawak Government Housing Project modelled after the development in Kampung Segedup.

The Premier also praised the organisers of the Sejijak Regatta, congratulating them on successfully holding the event for the 15th time. The regatta has become a key local cultural attraction, drawing crowds from within and outside Sarawak.
