The announcement was made during the 6th Anniversary Celebration of the Kampung Bratan Women’s Bureau on Sunday, reflecting a strategic commitment to improving flood mitigation, public facilities, and social cohesion.

A major portion of the funding—RM1 million—has been earmarked for the deepening and maintenance of Sungai Sembuh, a critical river project aimed at addressing recurrent flash floods that have affected Kampung Bratan, Rabak Asah, Simboh, Sikog, and Bawang.

“This is a proactive measure to reduce environmental risks and protect the livelihoods of local communities,” said Datuk Dr Jerip, who is also the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Mambong.

Another RM300,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025 has been allocated to upgrade the Kampung Bratan Asah Multipurpose Hall. The first phase includes:

  • RM100,000 for installing a giant fan to enhance user comfort,
  • RM200,000 for a roller shutter and giant LED screen, modernising the hall into a versatile community hub.

To further empower grassroots social initiatives, RM30,000 under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) will support the Kampung Bratan Women’s Bureau, recognised as a key driver of local welfare and community mobilisation.

“This allocation reflects our commitment not only to physical infrastructure but also to fostering social unity and enhancing the quality of life in rural Sarawak,” Datuk Dr Jerip said, adding that these efforts are part of a long-term strategy to build resilience against environmental challenges while encouraging active community participation in development.
