Kota Sentosa Resident Shocked by RM1,750 Water Bill, YB Wilfred Yap Steps In to Help

KUCHING : A resident from the Stampin Resettlement Scheme was left in shock after receiving a sudden water bill of RM1,750, a massive jump from their usual RM50 monthly charge. Unable to comprehend the reason behind the sharp increase, the resident turned to YB Wilfred Yap, the Sarawak State Assemblyman for Kota Sentosa, for assistance.

YB Wilfred Yap responded swiftly by contacting the Kuching Water Board (KWB) to investigate the matter thoroughly. He stated that such a large and unexplained increase in water charges should not burden residents, especially those from the working class who already struggle with rising living costs.

“No resident should be made to pay for what they did not use. We will ensure KWB investigates this case properly and provides a fair solution,” said YB Yap.

He assured that his service centre will continue to monitor and follow up on the case until it is resolved. The objective, he added, is to protect the interests and welfare of the people in his constituency, particularly those facing financial difficulties.

YB Yap also encouraged residents who encounter similar issues to report them immediately to his service centre for assistance. He reminded the public that his office remains committed to ensuring fair treatment for all residents under his care.

The issue of inaccurate or inflated utility bills has become a growing concern among households, with several residents in various areas voicing similar experiences. YB Yap emphasised the need for greater transparency and efficiency from utility service providers to maintain public trust.

This proactive step by YB Wilfred Yap once again highlights his dedication to serving the community and ensuring that ordinary citizens are not unfairly affected by administrative errors or technical issues.
