PADAWAN – The Kampung Emperoh Git community will soon benefit from improved facilities following the approval of RM200,000 under the Greater Kuching Development Coordination Agency (GKCDA) to renovate the village’s community hall.
The announcement was made by Sarawak Deputy Minister of Transport (Air & Land) and Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil during the opening of the Padawan Coffee Growers Association (PERKOP) and the launch of the Mini Coffee Collection Centre at Kampung Emperoh Git on Saturday.
Datuk Dr. Jerip explained that the allocation forms part of the government’s wider initiative through GKCDA to strengthen rural infrastructure, particularly within the Mambong constituency.
He emphasised the hall’s importance as a hub for community activities, social gatherings, and programmes that contribute to the socio-economic development of local residents.
“The hall is very important as a community activity centre, gathering place and a place to organise many community programmes and socio-economic development of the local residents,” he said.
He added that the project reflects the Sarawak Government’s objective of uplifting rural communities through balanced and sustainable development.
The renovation is expected to provide a more comfortable and functional space for residents, supporting both cultural and economic activities.
Datuk Dr. Jerip expressed hope that the renovation works would commence soon, ensuring the hall can serve the needs of all communities in the area.
The event also highlighted the role of rural development in supporting local industries, with the launch of the Mini Coffee Collection Centre aimed at strengthening Padawan’s coffee sector.
The initiative is expected to provide farmers with better access to markets and improve the quality of local produce.
Among those present at the ceremony were Padawan Sub-District Office Administrative Officer Julius Scott Sapong, Pemancha Raymond Jihap, Emperoh Village Chief Git Robert Asan, representatives from the Padawan Sub-District Community and Community Leaders (KMKK), and councillors from the Padawan City Council (MPP).
The renovation of the Kampung Emperoh Git Community Hall is seen as a strategic investment in rural development, ensuring that residents have access to facilities that foster community spirit, economic growth, and social cohesion.
