RMAF Plane Incident Causes Temporary Runway Closure at LTSAH

ALOR SETAR – A temporary closure of the runway at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport (LTSAH) has taken place following an incident involving a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) aircraft at around 5 pm this evening.

In a statement issued by Malaysia Airports, the closure was necessary to facilitate the removal of the aircraft from the runway and to ensure it is cleaned and ready for flight operations. The closure is expected to last until 10.30 pm tonight. During this time, all flights operating at the airport will be affected.

Malaysia Airports also announced that a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to alert pilots of the temporary closure. Passengers, including those travelling for the Hajj pilgrimage, have been urged to contact their respective airlines or the Hajj Fund Board for the latest updates on their flights.

“We advise all passengers to reach out to their airlines or the Hajj Fund Board for real-time flight information,” said the statement. The airport confirmed that further updates will be provided once the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) verifies that the runway is safe to resume flight operations.

The closure has understandably caused inconvenience to travelers, but safety remains the top priority. Malaysia Airports assured that all efforts are being made to restore normal operations as soon as possible.

The incident highlights the importance of safety protocols and the swift response of authorities to ensure minimal disruption to air travel. Passengers planning to fly out of LTSAH this evening are advised to stay updated with official communications from the airport and airline services. — Bernama
