SIBU – A site visit officially closed the RTP N.43 Road Upgrading Project works at Batang Lassa Longhouse on 5 February 2026 with its value of RM250,000.
The project was implemented by the Sibu Rural District Council (MDLBS) in a joint effort with N.43 Daro DUN Service Centre, demonstrating the state’s continuous rural development efforts.
The project, located at Rh. Mohamaddin added that the road would help facilitate movement and safety for residents from the zone. Improved road access will ease the residents’ travel, increase connectivity and help meet their socio-economic needs.
Among those present in the completion tour were Mr. Ismailie Bin Sallehuddin, Assistant Engineer of MDLBS and Village Chiefs Tuai Rumah Mohamaddin Anak Jumut and Kr. Michael Anak Dee.
Their engagement also showed the significance of intergovernmental and local leadership collaborations in achieving project success for rural transformation work.
It is a component under the RTP scheme that continues to provide infrastructure development in Sarawak. In the case of rural centres such as Batang Lassa, the RTP will foster a balanced development which guarantees that people living in outlying areas have access to modern facilities.
The local population expressed their satisfaction at the completion of this project, as they believe that driving will be safer and that people with emergencies have better transport services.
The project is also in line with Sarawak’s bigger plan of building a more connected and vibrant state, as outlined in the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ and the Sarawak Maju Makmur development agenda.
“The successful implementation of the Batang Lassa road upgrading works is a clear example how focused investments made under RTP can have immediate impact on raising the standard of living for rural communities while building capacity for Sarawak’s infrastructure network in future growth.”
