LIMBANG – The Rural Transformation Project (RTP) continues to serve as a vital instrument in strengthening rural infrastructure across Sarawak, with new initiatives underway in the Bukit Kota constituency.
Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Sarawak, and Bukit Kota State Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, emphasised the importance of ensuring that government investments through RTP are optimally utilised and maintained.
“We need to ensure that these premises are well looked after and maintained consistently so that the benefits can be enjoyed in the long term by the residents,” he said during a site visit to proposed RTP project locations in his constituency on Monday.
The visit included surveys of the Kampung Buangsiol Multipurpose Hall, Kampung Limpaong Multipurpose Hall, and the Limbang Area Fishermen’s Association (PNK) Office. The assessment focused on identifying areas requiring upgrades and improvements to existing facilities.
Among the proposals submitted were:
- Upgrading the floor of the Kampung Buangsiol Multipurpose Hall.
- Improving the drainage system at the Kampung Limpaong Multipurpose Hall.
- Upgrading the Kampung Limpaong KEMAS Kindergarten.
- Enhancing facilities at the Limbang PNK Office.
Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman stressed that a grassroots approach is essential to ensure that each application reflects the real needs of the people and aligns with local development planning. He noted that the RTP programme is designed to address community priorities and strengthen public facilities in rural areas.
This initiative reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to people-centred development, particularly in rural constituencies that require greater attention in terms of infrastructure and amenities.
By improving multipurpose halls, kindergartens, and fishermen’s facilities, the RTP aims to enhance community wellbeing and support socio-economic growth.
The site visit was attended by key officials including Marie Cotilla Louise @ Rozita Kulai, Deputy Resident of Limbang Division; Mariati Samat, Assistant District Officer of Limbang; Louis Jonathan Philip, Engineer of Limbang Division; Boniface Lalang, Assistant Engineer of Limbang District Council; Razedy Abdul Amit, Manager of the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board; Tarip Bujang, Chairman of the Limbang Area Fishermen’s Association; Penghulu Zahidi Asol; and Wasli Maseri, Head of Kampung Limpaong.
The RTP continues to play a crucial role in narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas, ensuring that communities in Bukit Kota and beyond benefit from sustainable infrastructure improvements.
