KUCHING — The spirit of Ramadan was felt strongly as members of SABATI gathered for a meaningful Quran tadarus program held at the Surau SABATI here today. Among those taking part was Puan Dayang Norjihan binti Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, who joined fellow members in the religious activity aimed at strengthening faith and unity during the holy month.
The Quran tadarus program, organised by SABATI (Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri), is scheduled to take place from 9 to 13 March. The event forms part of the organisation’s annual Ramadan activities that encourage members to reflect on the teachings of the Quran while fostering closer ties among participants.
The program gathered a total of 15 participants, all of whom were divided into five groups. Each group was guided by an appointed leader who helped coordinate the recitation sessions and ensured that the reading was conducted properly and in accordance with traditional practices.
Participants spent time together reciting and reviewing verses from the Quran, while also taking the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the holy text. The group-based format allowed members to support and motivate each other throughout the recitation process, creating an atmosphere of spiritual reflection and cooperation.
Also present at the program were several notable SABATI members including Dato Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, Datin Sri Sharifah Ehsan, and Dato Baduyah Bujang. Their participation further highlighted the organisation’s ongoing commitment to community service and religious activities, particularly during the sacred month of Ramadan.
SABATI has long been known in Sarawak for its charitable and welfare initiatives. Through programs like the Quran tadarus, the organisation continues to encourage its members to engage in activities that strengthen both faith and social bonds. Ramadan provides an ideal opportunity for such gatherings, as Muslims around the world focus on prayer, reflection, and acts of kindness.
Organisers expressed hope that the program will continue to inspire members to maintain the spirit of togetherness and devotion beyond the Ramadan period. By participating in collective religious activities, members not only enhance their spiritual well-being but also reinforce the strong sense of unity within the organisation.
As the program continues over the next few days, participants are expected to complete further recitation sessions while sharing moments of reflection and fellowship. The event stands as another example of how community groups in Sarawak embrace the traditions of Ramadan while nurturing solidarity among their members.
