KUCHING – The Sarawak Arts Council Board of Directors Audit Committee convened its first meeting of 2026 on 22 April, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to transparency and accountability in financial management.
The session, chaired by Professor Dr Musdi bin Sanat, who also serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee, brought together key representatives from the Council and state administration.
Among those present were Accountant Mrs Allina Arnold, representing the Sarawak State Secretary; Accountant Mrs Nazhatul Hashimah binti Razali, representing the Permanent Secretary of MTCP and Deputy Board of Directors of the Sarawak Arts Council; Chief Executive Officer Dr Suffian bin Haji Jalet; Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mr Awang Ikman bin Awang Sepian; Administrative Officer Mr Celestine Guang Edison; and Accountant Mr Syed Hamirul bin Wan Ahmad.
Discussions during the meeting centred on strengthening corporate governance practices, with emphasis placed on monitoring financial management, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and reinforcing internal control systems.
The Audit Committee was highlighted as a vital mechanism for maintaining checks and balances within the organisation.
Professor Dr Musdi stressed that the committee’s role is to safeguard accountability, integrity and efficiency in the Council’s operations.
