Sarawak Bomba Sends Reinforcements to Bintulu for Flood Rescue Operations

KUCHING (Jan 31): The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has deployed additional personnel from the Miri and Sibu divisions to Bintulu to bolster flood rescue efforts in the affected areas.

Deputy Director of Sarawak Fire and Rescue, Tiong Ling Hii, confirmed that the reinforcements arrived in Bintulu yesterday. This move aims to enhance the effectiveness and expand the ongoing flood rescue operations. The department is focused on ensuring that the affected communities receive the necessary assistance in the face of rising floodwaters.

With the additional deployment, the total number of personnel involved in the flood rescue operation in Bintulu now stands at 72. This significant increase in manpower reflects Bomba’s commitment to providing timely and efficient assistance to those in need.

The operation is also supported by 23 logistical assets, including small boats, heavy machinery, trucks, and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS). These resources are essential in navigating the flood-affected areas and providing vital medical aid to those stranded or injured due to the floods.

Tiong further emphasized that Bomba remains on high alert and continues to coordinate closely with other agencies to ensure that rescue operations are carried out smoothly. The public has also been urged to stay updated on the latest developments and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities to avoid unnecessary risks during the flooding.

As floodwaters continue to impact various parts of Bintulu, local authorities, including Bomba, are working tirelessly to mitigate the situation and provide immediate relief to the affected residents.
