KUCHING, February 12, 2025 – Five young and talented Sarawak dancers are all set to bring their flair to the global stage at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) French Open in Lyon, France, from February 15 to 17.
The team comprises Cordelia Wee, Amy Kho, Eunice Ling, Erin Ung, and Arabelle Leah Pei, who will showcase their skills in the Junior II, Youth, and Adult Solo Latin categories. Accompanying them is their team manager and coach, Cindy Chung Sin Yee from the Russell, Randell & Cindy Dance Company in Kuching.

Minister for Youth, Sports & Entrepreneur Development, YB Dato Sri Hj Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, presented the state colours to the dancers in a send-off ceremony. He applauded their bravery and determination in taking on an international challenge, especially since this will be their first time competing in Europe.

“I encourage them to give their best and fly the Sarawak flag high,” said Abdul Karim.
The five dancers are no strangers to success. They’ve already earned recognition at competitions in Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, and Sabah. Now, they’re eager to test their skills on a bigger platform in Europe.

Sarawak DanceSport Association (SDA) President Chester Lim and Vice-President Dr. Victor Bong were also present at the ceremony. Lim shared that their next competition will be the Bailando Open Championships 2025. He also revealed exciting plans for the Sarawak Open International DanceSport Championship and upcoming workshops for dancers and officials.
The dancers will leave for Lyon on February 12, carrying the dreams and hopes of Sarawak with them.
