LIMBANG – Community facilities in Limbang have been further improved following a working visit by YB Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Sarawak, who is also the Assemblyman for N.79 Bukit Kota.
The inspection, conducted on 2 March 2026, focused on several development projects under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP).
The first location visited was the Kampung Buangsiol Hall Upgrade Project, which has now been completed under the supervision of the Limbang Division Public Works Department.
Funded through RTP allocations, the project included construction of a new community hall and stage, development of a parking area, repainting works, electrical installations, and construction of a badminton court.
These facilities are expected to provide residents with better venues for community gatherings, sports activities, and social events.
The visit then proceeded to the Limbang Area Fishermen’s Organisation (PNK) Office Upgrade Project. The upgrades involved repainting the building, installing iron fencing at the main entrance, constructing a concrete access road, and adding drain covers.
These improvements aim to provide a more comfortable working environment for the organisation while improving accessibility for local fishermen.
Several officials accompanied the visit, including Ir. Ts. Br. PMr. Louis Jonathan Philip, Limbang Public Works Division Engineer; Marie Rozita Kulai, Deputy Resident of Limbang Division; Mariati Samat, Assistant District Officer; Ayunni Tamimi, Administrative Officer of the Strategic Planning and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit; and Mohamad Sobree Damit, Administrative Officer of the Physical Development Division.
Also present were Tarip Bujang, Chairman of PNK Limbang; Razedy Abdul Amit, General Manager of PNK Limbang; Penghulu Zahedi Asol; and Umar Ali, Head of Kampung Buangsiol.
During the visit, Dr Abdul Rahman emphasised that RTP projects play an important role in strengthening local infrastructure. He stated that these initiatives reflect the Sarawak Government’s continuous commitment to improving community facilities and supporting balanced rural development.
The RTP programme, introduced by the Sarawak Government, channels development funds directly to constituencies to support projects that meet local community needs.
In Limbang, such initiatives are particularly important as they provide essential infrastructure improvements for both urban and rural populations.
Community leaders expressed hope that the upgraded facilities would encourage more social and cultural activities while also supporting local economic growth.
The new hall in Kampung Buangsiol is expected to become a central venue for community programmes, while the upgraded PNK office will help strengthen services for fishermen in the area.
The projects in Limbang form part of a broader strategy to ensure rural communities across Sarawak benefit from infrastructure development.
By focusing on practical facilities such as community halls, offices, and recreational spaces, the RTP continues to improve living standards and social connectivity for residents.
