KUCHING, 6 April 2026 – The Hari Raya Aidilfitri Reception 2026 hosted by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) was attended by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, in a festive atmosphere that celebrated unity and camaraderie.
In his address, Datuk Amar Uggah underscored the importance of strong ties between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) and JKR Sarawak staff.
He noted that such gatherings serve as valuable platforms to strengthen cooperation, exchange ideas, and celebrate achievements collectively.
He extended his appreciation to the Sarawak Public Works Director and the organising committee for successfully delivering the Sarawak Infrastructure Engagement Programme held the previous week.
The participation of State Assemblymen (DUN) and Members of Parliament was highlighted as a sign of strong support for the state’s development agenda.
Feedback from elected representatives was described as highly encouraging, particularly regarding the implementation of JKR projects across constituencies.
Many of these initiatives were said to have brought tangible benefits to local communities, reinforcing the department’s role in improving public infrastructure.
On project progress, Datuk Amar Uggah revealed that out of nine major bridges scheduled for completion this year, two have already been finished.
This milestone reflects the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing connectivity and infrastructure networks across the state.
He also announced that the government has taken steps to assume responsibility for former logging roads, ensuring they are upgraded for the safety and comfort of users. This initiative is part of broader efforts to expand and improve road access in rural and semi-urban areas.
The reception was not only a celebration of Aidilfitri but also a demonstration of JKR’s dedication to serving the people of Sarawak.
By fostering closer relations between agencies and communities, the event highlighted the department’s mission to deliver quality infrastructure while promoting harmony and goodwill.
The evening concluded with warm exchanges among attendees, reinforcing the values of unity, cooperation, and shared responsibility in building Sarawak’s future.
