KUCHING – Sarawak Deputy Premier, Dr. Sim Kui Hian, alongside Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng and other council members, recently celebrated the illuminating beauty of Kuching’s City Hall with its new LED roof lighting. This enhancement adds another stunning landmark to Kuching’s vibrant nightlife scene.
Inspired by renowned cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, Dr. Sim shared his admiration for their advanced LED displays during his visits abroad. He recalled his eye-opening experience in Shanghai, where he met city government officers responsible for lighting design along The Bund, a 4-kilometer stretch adorned with mesmerizing LED lighting.
The visit not only showcased cutting-edge lighting technologies but also raised awareness of critical considerations like light pollution, a concept Dr. Sim admitted was new to him at the time. These insights are now fueling his vision for Kuching to adopt more LED lighting installations across the city, enriching its beauty while considering sustainability and environmental impact.
The new LED roof lighting of City Hall has already become a symbol of innovation and progress for Kuching. Dr. Sim emphasized the importance of leveraging global inspiration to create a modern, dynamic, and eco-friendly urban landscape in Sarawak.
