KUALA LUMPUR – The Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, arrived safely in the capital today to attend the 271st Conference of Rulers Meeting at Istana Negara.
He was accompanied by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, alongside family members including Sharifah Nong-Jasima and her husband, Encik Muhammad Nur Hakeem.
The delegation touched down at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang, at 3.10 pm after departing from Sultan Azlan Shah Airport in Ipoh.
Joining the governor was YB Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, together with his wife, Datin Sri Hajah Zuraini Abdul Jabbar.
Their arrival was warmly received by senior officers from the Office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak and the Sarawak House Liaison Office in Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier in the day, the Governor and Toh Puan officiated the Naming and Launching Ceremony of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s third Littoral Combat Ship (LCS 3) at Lumut Naval Shipyard.
The vessel was named Sharif Mashor, commemorating the Sarawak warrior celebrated for his bravery and resistance against colonial powers.
The Conference of Rulers, scheduled for tomorrow and the following day, will bring together Malaysia’s monarchs and governors to deliberate on matters of national importance.
The 271st meeting continues a tradition of consultation and cooperation among the country’s rulers, with discussions expected to cover governance, unity, and national security.
The Governor’s participation highlights Sarawak’s role in national affairs, while his presence at the launch of LCS 3 earlier in Lumut underscores the state’s symbolic connection to Malaysia’s defence modernisation efforts.
The arrival in Kuala Lumpur marks a busy schedule for Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi, who has been actively engaged in both ceremonial and strategic events.
His attendance at the Conference of Rulers reflects Sarawak’s ongoing contribution to Malaysia’s governance and unity.
