MIRI – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, arrived safely at Miri Airport at 2.15 pm on 26 March to begin their Aidilfitri engagements in the division.
The couple was warmly received by senior state leaders and community representatives. Among those present were Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts as well as Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, together with his wife Datin Sri Hajjah Zuraini binti Abdul Jaabar.
Also in attendance were Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister of Transport Sarawak, accompanied by his wife Datin Sri Kong Shui Lin, alongside Miri Division Resident Galong Anak Luang and Malay community leader Temenggong Mohammad Abang Othman.
The welcoming ceremony included a prayer led by Al Fadhil Ustaz Sharafuddin bin Suaut, Imam of Miri Division, marking the start of the Governor’s visit.
The Governor’s programme in Miri centres on Aidilfitri gatherings, with visits planned to the homes of prominent leaders, relatives, and close associates.
These visits are part of the long-standing tradition of strengthening community ties during the festive season.
In his remarks, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi expressed hope that the celebration would reinforce family bonds and provide opportunities for meaningful social interaction.
