Other family members, including Sharifah Nuril Barieyah, Encik Winston, and Puan Se-Tho, were also part of the gathering.

The visit took place at Raju’s Daun Pisang Restaurant, a popular spot in Bukit Gasing known for its laid-back vibe and crowd-favourite dishes.

Diners quickly noticed the Governor’s presence. Many walked over to greet him, shake hands, and snap a few photos, adding a lively touch to the morning.

The restaurant’s owners, Encik Babu and his mother Puan Selvi, welcomed the family themselves. Their hands-on approach matched the place’s reputation for warm service. The Governor and his wife seemed pleased with both the food and the hospitality.

Raju’s has built a strong following over the years, especially for its crispy roti canai and banana leaf rice. Regulars also swear by the fried seafood, from mackerel to squid and prawns, all cooked fresh on order. The mix of bold Indian-Malaysian flavours and a buzzing atmosphere keeps people coming back.

This casual outing followed a busy stretch for Wan Junaidi. Earlier in the month, he attended several official functions in Kuala Lumpur, including the Sungkei Anak Sarawak 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

He has also remained active on other fronts, from paying tribute to his late wife in Kuching to meeting international representatives to discuss Sarawak’s economic prospects.

Moments like this breakfast show a different side of the Governor. Away from formal duties, it was a simple family outing, one that left a strong impression on those who happened to be there.

Diners described the mood as cheerful, with many saying they didn’t expect to meet a head of state over breakfast.
