Sarawak Governor Dines at The King’s Curry in Kuching

KUCHING – The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi were treated to a meal at The King’s Curry restaurant in Petanak on 24 January.

They had a shopping trip to Kamdar textile house earlier in the day, and were down to this for their special desi look. The couple were joined by their daughters, Sharifah Fariah and Sharifah Nong-Jasima, as well as Encik Muhammad Nur Hakeem.

On arrival, the family was greeted with open arms by restaurant owner Dato Shankar Ram Asnani and his wife Datin Karishma Shankar Asnani as well as members of the Aliyaa staff. Their welcoming cook-shop bespoke the attention to service and client-interaction which is characteristic of a house of reputation.

King’s Curry, It has cultivated a loyal following in Kuching for its authentic Indian food, the selection of dishes aptly reflects traditional flavours. The restaurant has gained a reputation for its great food and service, and thus earned regulars both among the locals and visitors.

Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah seemed to enjoy the food offered during lunch. They said the meals not only tasted great and well-cooked but the staff were friendly, courteous and professional.

Observations were that the visit of His Majesty and his family not only attested to their love for Sarawak’s multi-ethnic food culture. Indian cuisine in particular has long been part of Kuching’s culinary identity; restaurants like The King’s Curry have contributed to the city’s multi-ethnic dining scene.

Its management, in a statement today, thanked the leaders on behalf of the house for visiting them and said it was a good acknowledgement for their consistency to provide quality food and service. The event served as a reminder to employees that customer experiences supersede everything else we do.
