KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, joined Friday prayers at Darul Hana Mosque, Jalan Tun Salahuddin, on 6 February.
He was warmly welcomed by YB Datuk Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department and Project Coordinator for the Regional Development Agency, Kuching North City Hall Islamic Affairs. Also present were Tuan Haji Khairul Anwar bin Sazali, Chairman of the Darul Hana Mosque, officers on duty, and special guest Tan Sri Bustari Yusuf, who prayed alongside the congregation.
The Friday prayer was led by Al-Fadhil Dato Ustaz Haji Jorji @ Jogi bin Suhaili, who delivered a sermon titled “Al-Quran Teman Kehidupan”. He highlighted the Al-Quran as a guiding companion in life, encouraging Muslims to read, understand, and apply its teachings in daily life.
After the prayers, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi spent time engaging with the congregation. He also handed out donation envelopes to children in attendance, showing his commitment to community welfare and compassion.
In his remarks, the governor expressed hope that Allah SWT would grant Muslims stronger understanding, faith, and resilience in following the teachings of the Al-Quran. He emphasised that practising Islamic values daily is key to building a harmonious, united, and prosperous society.
The visit underscored the Governor’s dedication to connecting with the community and supporting religious institutions, highlighting the role of faith and unity in strengthening social bonds across Sarawak.
The event was a meaningful occasion, blending spiritual reflection with community interaction and reinforcing values of compassion, inclusivity, and shared responsibility in fostering a peaceful and thriving society.
