KUCHING – Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar recorded a special message in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1447H/2026M.
The recording was held on 5 March at 11.00 am, based in State Astana Surau and produced by TVS. This message will air during the coming Hari Raya celebration through the TVS and UKAS platforms, which could encourage distributed public access in Sarawak and beyond.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which celebrates the end of Ramadan, is one of Malaysia’s most important religious celebrations. It is a time for family to come together, share festive meals, and exchange goodwill with neighbours and friends. Messages from national and state leaders are a decades-long tradition, intended to promote cheer and solidarity during the holiday season.
Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi also thanked TVS for cooperating and making sure that the recording went on smoothly and successfully. Among those accompanying him was YABhg Toh Puan, who likewise expressed her gratitude for the professionalism on display during that session.
Some may even expect the governor’s Hari Raya message to convey sentiments of harmony, resilience, and absolute togetherness that highlight Sarawakians’ high diversity of culture and religion. Such messages are also meant to reinforce mutual respect and inclusivity, which are core values in Sarawak’s social fabric.
TVS, the state-owned broadcaster, has assumed an increasingly prominent role in couriering official communications and holiday programming to the public. Once this is built, there will be a wide and varied rollout by working with UKAS that saturates directly with that demographic in urban areas as well as rural communities.
The recording was also held at the Astana Surau, which holds symbolic meaning factoring in that it participates as part of the governor’s official residence. Having the session there highlights ceremonial aspects of the event, as well as keeping a semblance of tradition and dignity.
Sarawak so happens to be gearing up for Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations later in the year, and so the Governor’s words will form a key part of those festivities, reminding everyone about togetherness and fighting for shared values.
The broadcast would enable citizens throughout the state to hear directly from their governor of state, a practice that furthers the relationship between leadership and community during festive times.
