KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, welcomed an official visit from the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) at their residence in Petra Jaya on 12 May.
The delegation was led by Sarawak IRB State Director, Mr Abang Ehsan bin Abang Abu Bakar, and included Mr Shahminan bin Ahmad, Public Relations Officer of the IRB Kuching Branch, as well as Mrs Ayiu binti Hasbie, Audit Officer.
The meeting was arranged to assist with administrative matters concerning the Governor and his spouse, particularly in relation to the services provided by the IRB.
The visit highlighted the IRB’s role in ensuring smooth facilitation of tax-related affairs for state leaders. The Governor expressed his gratitude for the efficiency and professionalism demonstrated by the agency, noting that the services provided had been handled effectively and without disruption.
The Inland Revenue Board, established under the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia Act 1995, is responsible for managing direct taxation in the country.
Its presence in Sarawak plays a crucial role in supporting both individuals and institutions with compliance and advisory services.
The Kuching branch, in particular, has been active in strengthening engagement with the public and government offices to ensure tax matters are managed transparently and efficiently.
This latest engagement reflects the IRB’s ongoing commitment to building strong relationships with state authorities.
Such visits are part of broader efforts to enhance cooperation between government institutions and ensure that administrative processes remain accessible and responsive to the needs of the community.
The Governor’s appreciation underscores the importance of effective collaboration between state leadership and federal agencies.
By maintaining open communication channels, the IRB continues to reinforce its role as a trusted partner in financial governance.
The meeting also served as a reminder of the wider responsibilities of the IRB in Sarawak, where economic growth and development are closely tied to effective tax administration.
With Sarawak’s expanding role in Malaysia’s economy, ensuring that tax services remain efficient and reliable is seen as vital for sustaining progress.
As Malaysia continues to strengthen its financial systems, engagements such as this highlight the importance of institutional cooperation.
The IRB’s proactive approach in reaching out to state leaders demonstrates its commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery, while also fostering trust and accountability in its operations.
