KUCHING: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar today had an audience with the Sarawak Hajj Fund Board at his residence. The delegation was headed by Director Tuan Haji Amat Kassim Pait, accompanied by several senior officers.

It was held to receive an update on matters concerning the accounts as well as discuss some issues related to Tabung Haji operations in Sarawak. Officials offered feedback and rationale about bodily financial management and the fund’s broader duties.

The Governor highlighted that the agency is responsible for ensuring Sarawakian pilgrims’ welfare and well-being. The Haji Fund Board, he expressed hope, would continue to keep the pilgrims comfortable and guided in their procedures.

“Hopefully the Sarawak Haji Fund will continue to play an important role in ensuring that the welfare and comfort of future pilgrims originating from Bumi Kenyalang is always awake, along with providing the best worship guidance,” he said.

The Tabung Haji national deposits system was established in 1963 and has long been a mainstay for savings and preparations for Malaysian Muslims wishing to perform the haj. As for Sarawak, the fund had been instrumental in facilitating thousands of pilgrims to perform their respective religious obligations and taking care of their safety.

These meetings are said to promote accountability and transparency in managing public funds, observers point out. The governor’s involvement also signals a goal to align state leadership with institutions that serve the spiritual and social needs of people.

The Sarawak Haji Fund Board still strives to make improvements in their services and work facilities, with the aim of improving financial systems related to the pilgrimage. enhancer training programme for pilgrims. The institution is under increasing responsibility to provide services as the number of haj applicants is rising numerous times a year.

The governor’s approach to the board is part of an effort to enhance Sarawak’s role as a proactive supporter of its people’s religious paths. It also reinforces the larger agenda of state leadership in putting community first and re-establishing faith in public institutions.
