Sarawak Governor Meets Jelebu MP Jalaluddin Alias in Kuching

KUCHING – Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a visit from Jelebu MP Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias at his official residence in Kuching on 22 August.

Jalaluddin was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Maziah Mohd Nor, during the visit. Wan Junaidi’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, was also present.

The meeting brought together two politicians who have known each other for many years and previously served alongside one another in Parliament and the Federal Cabinet.

Wan Junaidi and Jalaluddin served together in the Federal Cabinet during 2021 and 2022. At the time, Wan Junaidi was Minister of Law, while Jalaluddin served as Deputy Minister of Federal Territories.

Their latest meeting provided an opportunity for the two former Cabinet colleagues to reconnect and exchange views on a range of current issues.

Discussions included developments relating to legal matters as well as issues affecting the interests of the community and the country, according to information on the meeting.

Wan Junaidi also shared his experiences and perspectives during the discussion, drawing on his previous roles in Parliament and the Federal Cabinet.

The meeting took place in a private and cordial setting, with the visit reflecting the longstanding personal relationship between the two politicians.

Both Wan Junaidi and Jalaluddin have held public office at federal level, giving the meeting a wider context of continued engagement between current and former members of the national political leadership.

Jalaluddin, who represents Jelebu in the Dewan Rakyat, has continued to serve in Parliament following his earlier role in the Federal Territories Ministry.

Wan Junaidi, meanwhile, serves as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak after a long career in federal politics and government.

The discussion also allowed the former Cabinet colleagues to reflect on issues of public interest and developments affecting the country. The source statement did not provide further details on specific legal or national matters discussed during the meeting.

At the conclusion of the visit, Wan Junaidi expressed his appreciation to Jalaluddin and his wife for making the time to call on him and Toh Puan Fauziah.

He also conveyed his wishes for Jalaluddin’s continued good health and success in carrying out his responsibilities as an elected representative.

The Governor further prayed that Jalaluddin would be granted ease in fulfilling the duties entrusted to him.

The visit highlights the continued personal connections between politicians who have worked together at the federal level, even after moving into different roles.

Such meetings also provide opportunities for former colleagues to maintain relationships and exchange perspectives on public affairs outside formal government proceedings.

For Wan Junaidi and Jalaluddin, their shared experience in Parliament and the Federal Cabinet provided a common basis for their latest meeting in Kuching.
