KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended the Rakyat Ramah Mesra ceremony alongside Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof at the CIDB Convention Centre on Sunday afternoon.
The event commenced at 2.30 pm, shortly after the Governor and his wife had participated in the Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering with family and friends at the Sarawak State Astana.
Their arrival at the convention centre was warmly received by the Deputy Prime Minister, his wife Datin Amar Hajah Ruziah binti Mohd Tahir, and other invited guests.
The ceremony brought together community members, leaders, and families in a festive atmosphere. Guests were treated to a banquet accompanied by traditional Malay classical music, which added to the celebratory mood.
The Governor and his wife mingled with attendees, engaging in conversations and sharing greetings throughout the afternoon.
Before departing, the Governor and Toh Puan took time to pose for photographs with visitors, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the occasion.
Their presence underscored the importance of maintaining close ties between leaders and the people, especially during festive periods such as Aidilfitri.
In his remarks, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended by the Deputy Prime Minister and his wife.
He conveyed gratitude for the invitation and emphasised the value of such gatherings in strengthening community bonds.
“We are thankful to be able to come together, socialise with family members, and celebrate this meaningful day while reinforcing the bonds of friendship among people,” he said.
The Governor also highlighted the significance of Syawal as a time for unity and reconciliation. He noted that the celebration should serve as a catalyst for fostering harmony among Sarawakians.
“This celebrated Syawal will continue to be a catalyst for uniting hearts, strengthening friendships, and nurturing the spirit of togetherness among all Sarawakians,” he added.
The Rakyat Ramah Mesra ceremony at the CIDB Convention Centre reflected Sarawak’s tradition of inclusivity, where leaders and citizens gather to celebrate shared values of friendship and solidarity. The event reinforced the governor’s commitment to encouraging unity across Sarawak’s diverse communities.
