KUCHING – His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy visit from YB Datuk Abdullah bin Haji Saidol, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), at Kasuma Resort on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
The meeting, held around midday, was arranged in conjunction with the delivery of a personal invitation to the forthcoming wedding ceremonies of Datuk Abdullah’s children.
His daughter, Damia Nur, is set to marry Mustafa Kamal, while his son, Lt Danish Shafiq, will wed Nur Nadirah. Both ceremonies are scheduled to take place on 30 May 2026, corresponding with 14 Zulhijah 1447H, at Dewan Majma Mall.
Tun Pehin Sri expressed his gratitude for the invitation and extended his prayers for the couples, wishing them happiness, prosperity, and harmony as they embark on their new lives together.
“May both couples be blessed with blessings, happiness and well-being in navigating the domestic realm,” he said.
However, the Governor and his consort, Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, will not be able to attend the ceremonies, as they are scheduled to be performing the Hajj pilgrimage in the Holy Land at the time.
The visit reflects the close ties between state leaders and community figures, underscoring the importance of family occasions in strengthening social bonds.
It also highlights the governor’s role in maintaining cordial relations with members of the government and the wider Sarawak community.
Such exchanges are a reminder of the cultural significance placed on family milestones in Sarawak, where weddings are often celebrated as communal events that bring together relatives, friends, and leaders.
The governor’s warm response to the invitation demonstrates the value placed on mutual respect and shared goodwill within the state’s leadership.
The ceremonies at Dewan Majma Mall are expected to draw a large gathering, reflecting the prominence of the families involved and the importance of the occasion.
