KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, arrived safely at Kuching International Airport on Saturday afternoon, marking the conclusion of their official trip to Kuala Lumpur.
The couple landed at the Hornbill Skyways Terminal at approximately 1.40 pm, where they were warmly received by senior officers from the Office of the State Head of Sarawak, including Tuan Haji Junih bin Salleh Ahmad, Private Secretary to the Governor, and Encik Samuel Simon, Senior Press Secretary. Their arrival was also witnessed by other officials who extended a formal welcome.
The Governor and his wife had spent several days in Kuala Lumpur, where they attended a series of official engagements. Among the highlights was their presence at the Sungkei Anak Sarawak 2026 ceremony, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The event brought together Sarawakians residing in Peninsular Malaysia to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan, fostering unity and cultural connection among the community.
During the gathering, participants shared in the breaking of fast and enjoyed cultural exchanges, while Yayasan Sarawak presented contributions to selected recipients. The Governor’s attendance underscored the importance of maintaining ties with Sarawakians living outside the state, particularly during significant cultural and religious occasions.
The visit also included meetings with officials and participation in other state-related programmes, reflecting the Governor’s ongoing role in strengthening Sarawak’s presence at the national level. His engagements in Kuala Lumpur were seen as part of broader efforts to enhance collaboration between Sarawak and federal institutions.
Upon their return, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah expressed gratitude to all parties who had ensured the smooth organisation of their visit. They acknowledged the hospitality extended by organisers and the efficiency of arrangements throughout their stay in the capital.
The Governor’s safe arrival in Kuching marks the conclusion of a productive trip, reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to engaging with its diaspora and upholding traditions that unite communities across Malaysia. His participation in the Sungkei Anak Sarawak event highlighted the state’s dedication to cultural preservation and inclusivity, particularly during Ramadan.
