KUCHING – Sarawak Governor Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, welcomed a delegation from Sinar Harian to their official residence in Petra Jaya on 23 February for a special interview.
The session began at 11.00am and offered a closer look at the governor’s personal and professional journey. Their daughter, Sharifah Nong-Jasima, joined the meeting, adding a warm, family touch to the occasion.
The Sinar Harian delegation was led by Editor-in-Chief Zamri Rambli and Chief Reporter Mohd Fazli Zainul Abidin. They were accompanied by Nur Farhana Abdul Manan, who heads the Multimedia Creative Unit; photographer Mohd Halim Abdul Wahid; and videographers Mohd Zamir Mohd Yusoff and Muhammad Safwan Saidon.
During the interview, Wan Junaidi spoke about his early years, sharing childhood memories and the experiences that shaped him. He reflected on his time in the police force before stepping into politics, a path that later led to his appointment as Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak.
Fauziah also shared stories from her life, including her years working as a flight attendant. She spoke about her hobbies, daily routines, and love of cooking, giving readers a glimpse of the woman behind the public role. Her reflections brought balance to the conversation, showing life beyond official duties.
The Governor thanked Sinar Harian for handling the interview with care and professionalism. He stressed the value of recording such experiences, saying they serve as a reference for future generations.
“This interview allows another side of history to be shared, one that is rarely revealed to the public,” he said. Fauziah agreed and expressed hope that their story would encourage younger Malaysians to appreciate the many paths of service and leadership.
The meeting highlighted Wan Junaidi’s long service to Sarawak while also revealing the personal journey behind the title. By opening their home and sharing their experiences, the couple offered more than a formal account of public duty. They shared a story of resilience, commitment, and family, one that will remain part of Sarawak’s living history.
