MECCA – Following their evening prayers at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended a Special Masyair Briefing Ceremony on Tuesday night.
The session, held at the Dar Al Tawhed Hotel, was organised to prepare pilgrims for the upcoming peak of the Hajj season.
The briefing focused on the movement and management of religious practices in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina, key sites that form part of the Hajj rituals.
It provided detailed guidance on travel arrangements, accommodation, and logistical requirements to ensure a smooth and orderly experience for pilgrims.
The session was led by Tuan Haji Sharimi bin Ilyas, Marketing Manager of THT Kuala Lumpur, who explained the schedule and operational aspects of the pilgrimage.
His presentation covered the flow of pilgrims between the sacred sites, the facilities available, and the importance of adhering to the prescribed arrangements to maintain safety and order.
In addition, an information session on Wukuf prayer was delivered by YBhg. Associate Professor Dr Jamalluddin bin Hashim, a Hajj prayer guide.
He elaborated on the spiritual significance of Wukuf at Arafah, one of the central pillars of the Hajj, and emphasised the need for pilgrims to perform the rites with sincerity and discipline.
The briefing also addressed the pillars and obligatory practices of the Hajj, ensuring that participants understood the requirements and could fulfil them correctly.
Pilgrims were reminded of the importance of preparation, both physically and spiritually, to ensure their devotion is carried out in a complete and meaningful manner.
For the Sarawak Governor and Toh Puan, the session was an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the rituals and to share in the collective preparation with fellow pilgrims.
Their attendance highlighted the importance of leadership figures participating in the same spiritual journey as the wider community, reinforcing the values of humility and devotion.
The Special Masyair Briefing is a vital component of the Hajj process, equipping pilgrims with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the demanding schedule of the pilgrimage.
With millions expected to gather in Makkah, such sessions are crucial in ensuring that prayers are performed in an organised and respectful manner.
As the Hajj season approaches its peak, the governor, Toh Puan, and their entourage are expected to continue engaging in religious activities, reflecting the shared commitment of Sarawak’s leadership to faith and community.
