In his message in conjunction with Labour Day, the Governor stressed that every job, regardless of whether it is in the public or private sector, carries dignity and plays a meaningful role in shaping the development and well-being of society. He noted that workers are the backbone of the economy and remain central to Sarawak’s journey towards sustainable growth.

Elaborating further, Wan Junaidi highlighted this year’s national theme, “Pekerja Kesuma Bangsa,” alongside Sarawak’s own theme, “Pekerjaan Cemerlang, Sarawak Maju Makmur.” He said both themes reflect the importance of workers as the driving force behind progress. According to him, a strong workforce is essential not only for economic development but also for ensuring social stability and long-term prosperity.

The Governor also underlined the importance of safeguarding the welfare, safety and overall well-being of workers. He said these elements must always remain a priority to ensure balanced and sustainable advancement. Without proper care for workers, he warned, development efforts would lack the foundation needed for lasting success.

He emphasised that mutual respect and cooperation are key to building a resilient and competitive workforce capable of meeting future challenges.

Wan Junaidi expressed confidence that through strong collaboration and shared responsibility, Sarawak will continue to grow as a progressive and prosperous state. He added that such unity will further position Sarawak as a respected player on the international stage.
