He added that the opening ceremony on February 24 will be officiated by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg. This annual event will see participation from Qari and Qariah across Sarawak, fostering greater involvement in Islamic teachings and recitations.

Land Value to Rise Near Tanjung Embang Airport

During the visit, Dato Sri Abdul Karim, who also serves as the Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, commented on the expected rise in land prices surrounding the upcoming airport project in Tanjung Embang.

He highlighted that infrastructure development often leads to increased land value and advised landowners to carefully consider their sales decisions.

“Currently, land in the area is selling for RM10,000 to RM20,000 per acre. Some may be tempted to sell at double the price, but after the infrastructure is in place, values could rise by 20 to 30 times,” he explained.

“We urge landowners not to sell too quickly, as they may benefit significantly in the future,” he added.

Officials in Attendance

Accompanying the delegation were President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha, Samarahan Division Resident, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, Acting Director of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), Abang Borhanuddin Abang Ahmad Masuine, and other key officials.

The visit reinforced the Sarawak government’s commitment to religious and economic development, ensuring long-term benefits for its people.
