Sarawak Governor and Wife Join Astana Staff for Ramadan Iftar

KUCHING – His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Governor of Sarawak, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended a breaking fast ceremony with staff from Astana Sarawak at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on 16 March.

The event was also attended by members of the governor’s family, including Sharifah Fariah, Sharifah Nong-Jasima with her husband Muhammad Nur Hakeem, and Tasneem.

Senior officials such as Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, Senior Private Secretary to the Governor, and Tuan Haji Junih bin Saleh Ahmad, Private Secretary, joined alongside Astana Sarawak employees.

Before breaking fast, the Governor and his wife mingled with attendees over light refreshments, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

After the meal, congregational Maghrib prayers were performed at a surau arranged for the event, and later, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi joined staff for the Isyak prayer, reinforcing the spiritual significance of the evening.

The Governor and Toh Puan also took time to engage with staff and visitors, conversing and posing for commemorative photographs. Their presence reflected appreciation for the dedication of Astana Sarawak employees.

More than a ceremonial gathering, the event highlighted the values of togetherness, brotherhood, and mutual respect that define Ramadan.

By sharing the breaking of fast with staff, the governor emphasised the importance of unity between leadership and the community.

Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a time of fasting, reflection, and prayer. In Sarawak, such events strengthen bonds between leaders and citizens, ensuring the spirit of the holy month resonates across all levels of society.

The breaking of fast at BCCK offered a platform for fellowship, reinforcing the collective spirit of Astana Sarawak and the Governor’s commitment to harmony and inclusivity.
