DAVOS, SWITZERLAND – Sarawak strengthened its global presence at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 through the participation of Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), who served as a panellist in the session “Industrial Clusters as Engines of Transformation” at DP World House, Davos.
The session gathered international policymakers and industry leaders to explore how industrial clusters can enhance resilience, support energy transition, and build future-ready ecosystems amid shifting global supply chains.
Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah shared Sarawak’s experience in advancing the Bintulu Industrial Cluster, emphasising its integrated development model that aligns infrastructure, energy supply, logistics, and industrial planning under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
He outlined Sarawak’s commitment to low-carbon industrial growth through key frameworks:
- Sarawak Energy Transition Policy
- Sarawak Hydrogen Economy Roadmap
- Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint 2030
These initiatives collectively guide the state’s long-term economic and sustainability agenda. He also stressed the importance of good governance, integrity, and transparency as foundations for industrial transformation.
The session reinforced Sarawak’s role as a forward-looking partner in the global transition towards resilient, low-carbon, and inclusive industrial ecosystems. It also opened pathways for deeper collaboration under WEF’s industrial transformation initiatives.
Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah was accompanied by Datu Abang Ahmad Abang Morni, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESty), and Dr Kho Lip Khoon, Head of MEESty’s Corporate Development and Economy Division.
