KUCHING – The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, received a formal courtesy visit from representatives of the Sarawak Foundation and MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak at their official residence in Kasuma Resort, Petra Jaya, on 24 February.
The delegation was headed by YBhg. Datu Mohamad Junaidi bin Mohidin, Director of the Sarawak Foundation, accompanied by his wife, YBhg. Datin Sharifah Khamsiah binti Wan Bujang.
The visit also included senior figures from both organisations, among them YBhg. Dato Hajah Baduyah binti Haji Bujang, Chairman of MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak, and YBhg. Datin Hajah Fauziah Mardiana binti Sepawi, who chairs the Education Bureau of MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak.
Officials from the Sarawak Foundation were also present, including Mr. Mohamad Adzlie bin Ibrahim, Deputy Director (Operations); Mr. Watson Chunggat, Deputy Director (Education); and Mrs. Hajah Suryani binti Abdul Hamid, Principal Assistant Director.
Representing MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak was Mrs. Hajah Norhayati binti Morni, Honorary Secretary of the organisation’s executive committee.
The purpose of the visit was to extend an official invitation to the Head of State and his consort to attend two upcoming events in Kuala Lumpur on 28 February. The first, the Sungkei Anak Sarawak Ceremony, will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
The second, the Spicy Porridge Cooking Programme, is organised by MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak and scheduled to be held at the Sarawak Liaison Office in Kuala Lumpur. The latter event will be officiated by Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah.
Both leaders expressed gratitude for the invitation and conveyed their hopes that preparations for the events would proceed smoothly. They also offered prayers for the success and blessings of the programmes.
The Sungkei Anak Sarawak Ceremony is expected to bring together Sarawakians residing in the capital, strengthening community ties and celebrating cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, the Spicy Porridge Cooking Programme highlights Sarawak’s culinary traditions and the role of women’s associations in promoting cultural identity and community engagement.
The Sarawak Foundation, established to support education and community development, continues to play a significant role in fostering opportunities for Sarawakians. MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak, as part of the broader civil service association, has long been active in organising social, cultural, and welfare initiatives.
This visit underscores the collaborative spirit between state institutions and community organisations, reflecting Sarawak’s commitment to strengthening unity and cultural pride both within the state and among its diaspora in Kuala Lumpur.
