LIMBANG – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, led a community brisk walk programme at the Limbang Waterfront on 11 April 2026, covering a distance of approximately 3.5 kilometres.
The event, which began at 6.30am, saw participants walking from the waterfront to the Limbang Museum. The programme was designed to encourage healthy living while fostering closer ties between leaders and the local community.
Joining the Premier was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who walked alongside him throughout the route.
Their participation highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting wellness and community engagement.
During the walk, Abang Johari took the opportunity to interact with residents who were out for morning recreation.
He exchanged greetings and engaged in conversations, reinforcing the government’s connection with the people.
The programme concluded with a breakfast session at Pasar Tamu Limbang, where leaders mingled with the public in a relaxed setting.
Several dignitaries were also present, including Sarawak Government Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, and Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Sarawak Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.
Their attendance underscored the importance of the event as a platform for both health promotion and community bonding.
The brisk walk initiative reflects Sarawak’s broader efforts to encourage active lifestyles among its citizens. It also demonstrates the Premier’s hands-on approach in engaging directly with communities across the state.
By combining physical activity with public interaction, the programme served as a reminder of the government’s dual focus on wellbeing and inclusivity.
The Limbang Waterfront, a popular recreational spot, provided an ideal backdrop for the event, symbolising the state’s commitment to both development and community spirit.
